Individual Ayurvedic Treatments

Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic technique of applying warm, herb-infused oil to the body. It is considered especially beneficial in stress-reduction, pain relief, dryness, insomnia and overall well-being. It is not a massage, rather an anointment of warm oil that feels like enveloping the body in love. The experience of receiving Abhyanga can offer a deep feeling of stability, warmth, and comfort. Absorbing the oil through the skin is both a protective shield and a gateway to our bodies more subtle channels. Abhyanga is also the foundation of the detoxification within the body. Thoroughly oiling the body, by way of Abhyanga, loosens deep seated metabolic waste materials, and brings elasticity to the body tissues. It then moves these waste materials to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract for removal. It also promotes flexibility in the joints, coordination, and a general sense of well being.

Shirodhara is the therapeutic administration of warm herbalized oil to the center of the forehead in a continuous stream. It has profound effects and places the entire body and mind into a state of calmness. It can alleviate mental and emotional stress and facilitates the unfolding of clarity and bliss. It is a deeply relaxing treatment. Treatments generally last between 30-60 minutes.
